About the Therapist
Roger J. Brian CMT
Roger spent a large part of his younger days tinkering with motor bikes, this innate curiosity of mechanics led him into the United States Air Force where he worked on the electrics for the guidance and controls of C130 cargo aircraft. Roger has been doing massage for 16 years in Santa Barbara. Bodywork was a natural step for him since he has always had an interest in science and particularly the mechanics of the body. At Santa Barbara Massage school he was trained in many therapeutic massage techniques. He studied deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, cranial sacral techniques, prenatal massage (pregnancy massage), myofascial release, foot reflexology, lomi lomi (A Hawaiian massage style with full body flowing strokes) and of course Swedish massage. He even studied Thai massage at a traditional Thai massage school in Bangkok Thailand.
With his his continuing practice as one of the main therapists at McVeigh Massage, and practicing massage at Rathion, Roger has continued to refine his technique, while maintaining his passion for problem solving and understand body mechanics. He can ratchet up the pressure with ease, but more importantly he will problem solve, and communicate with you during your massage to find the root of you mechanical breakdown. Roger loves to work with clients who have challenging physical problems, such as frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, sacroiliac (SI) problems. He is very focused on relieving chronic pain and discomfort, and increasing range of motion for his clients, so if you have been having some performance issues, Roger’s massage will have you firing on all cylinders in no time.
